Play Therapy

پلے تھراپی: کھیل کے ذریعے سیکھنا

Play is how children learn and express themselves. Play therapy uses guided play to help children understand feelings, build confidence, connect with others and cope with worries or big changes.

Signs your child may benefit

  • Has big emotions and finds it hard to calm down
  • Struggles to make friends or play with other children
  • Is anxious, withdrawn or very shy
  • Has been through a stressful change, like a move, loss or new sibling
  • Has difficulty sharing, taking turns or playing pretend

What happens in sessions

  • A therapist creates a safe, welcoming playroom
  • Your child plays with toys, art, puppets and stories while the therapist guides and observes
  • Feelings are named and practised in play, such as turn-taking, sharing and calming
  • Small group sessions help children practise social skills together

How you can help at home

  • Give your child 10 minutes of special playtime a day, letting them lead
  • Name feelings out loud: "You look frustrated; the tower fell"
  • Play turn-taking games like Ludo or building towers together
  • Use the Sharing and Art chapters of the Parh SAFAR Kids Workbook

Common questions

Is play therapy "just playing"?

It looks like play, but the therapist is guiding it carefully to build specific emotional and social skills.

Can play therapy happen in groups?

Yes. We run small group sessions so children can practise with peers.

How long does it take?

Many families see changes within a few weeks; the therapist will review progress with you regularly.

Parh's screening is not a diagnosis. For medical concerns, please also consult a qualified doctor.
